This ebook is published in Hungarian. English abstract: Footprints of the Old Man – Metafiction, Simulation, Hypertextuality and Authorship by Norbert Gyuris examines the concept of authorship from three angles. The textual aporia of the author is considered in books by Paul Auster, Kurt Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Bret Easton Ellis, Vladimir Nabokov, Edgar Allen Poe, Jonathan Swift and John Fowles. The cross-section of literary simulation and authorial functions are observed in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and Umberto Eco’s The Name of the Rose. The mutating role of the author in hypertexts is elaborated on and analyzed in Italo Calvino’s If on a Winter’s Night the Traveler.
