“Haza”: A longitudinal case study on the concept of home in Hungarian from a cognitive semantics framework

The current case study investigates the semantically wide-ranging Hungarian word haza. Based on a longitudinal study with one participant, the use of the word and its changes are analysed. In the current case, haza can be viewed as a frame encompassing three distinct yet interconnected subcategories. These are the ORIGINAL HOME, the NEW HOME, and the HOMELAND. Furthermore, it is hypothesised that it resides on all three cognitive contextual levels with unique prototypical and atypical features. Additionally, attention is paid to conceptual metaphors and their use in life narration.
