New Horizons in English and American Studies: Papers from Endorsing Excellence

This volume has come into being as the result of three Endorsing Excellence workshops at the Institute of English and American Studies, University of Szeged, between 2023 and 2025, as well as a mini course in Endorsing Excellence in Spring 2026, and the fledgling cooperation between the American Studies MA programs of the University of the West, Timişoara, Romania, and the University of Szeged.
After the OTDK of 2025, there was enough material to produce an edited volume based on TDK and OTDK essays that have been handed in at the IEAS Szeged over the previous three years. So, the volume you are reading includes work by local students who took part in OTDK in 2025 and papers by students who presented their projects in the local TDK round in 2026. Two more essays by MA students come from the academic cooperation between the American Studies Institute of the University of the West, Timişoara, and the Department of American Studies at the University of Szeged. In addition, papers by supervisors enrich the selection, making it possible to pinpoint thematic and methodological intersections among students and their teachers, and across BA, MA, and PhD-level projects. As cooperations cut across institutions, you can also see the similarities of academic methodology in a transnational English and American Studies context.
